Mannochmore 1978 Scott's Selection 60.3% 70cl

Established in 1971 to provide malt for the Haig blends (such as Dimple), Mannochmore distillery occupied the same premises as its sister Glenlossie, and until 2007 the two distilleries shared the same staff, who alternated between stills to provide malt of two different styles.  With the revival of demand for whisky in the new millennium, Mannochmore and 


Balvenie 21 Year Old PortWood 40% 70cl

Next door to the world-famous Glenfiddich sits its sister distillery, Balvenie, less well-known but commanding a devoted fanbase.  The two distilleries are, to this day, owned by the same company, which carrying the name of Balvenie’s founder, William Grant.  He learned the tricks of the trade in Mortlach (another of Dufftown’s seven stills) before founding his


Cardhu Amber Rock 40% 70cl

Originally spelt “Cardow”, Cardhu distillery was established by a notorious whisky smuggler who had decided to go straight following the introduction of the Excise Act regulating taxation on whisky production in 1824. 

Whisky finished in a toasted cask.

Port Ellen 12 Year Old 1990s Douglas Murdoch 40% 70cl

Port Ellen distillery closed its doors and quieted its stills in 1983.  Since then, much of it has been demolished.  But the warehouses remain, and inside them a steadily decreasing number of oak casks slumber on.

Independent bottling of Port Ellen by Douglas Murdoch & Co. Released by Oddbins in the early 1990s and now hard to find.

Tomatin Cu Bocan 46% 70cl

Tomatin was at one point the largest malt whisky distillery in Scotland, in terms of its production output, at 12 million litres per year.  Despite this, it remained fairly underground for a long time due to the vast majority of its whisky going to blending sources:  it is the main malt in the Antiquary and Talisman blends.  When it closed in 1985, the distillery

It was in 1963 that the Glenfiddich Distillery Co. produced an official bottling of a single malt, which was virtually unheard of at the time:  just ten years later, they were selling 120,000 cases a year.
