John Duff was one of Scotland’s leading whisky entrepreneurs of the late 19th century, but not one who always enjoyed success or even good luck. He had founded the Glenlossie distillery in 1876, then participated in failed ventures to establish distilleries in South Africa and the USA, returning to Scotland to take up a job at the Bon Accord distillery in Aberdeen. In the whisky boom at the end of the century, his establishment of a new distillery by the name of Longmorn.
This Single Cask release from Hunter Laing was distilled in October 1985 and bottled May 2016 from a Refill Hogshead. This is bottle no. 2 of 157.
