Situated in the shadow of the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis distillery was founded in 1825 by ‘Long John’ McDonald, a descendent of the ruler of the ancient Kingdom of Argyll. It has come a long way from old Highland romance: in 1989, the distillery was acquired by Nikka, manufacturers of one of Japan’s best loved whiskies. To this day, Ben Nevis is one of the top 10 highest sellers in the single malt section of the Japanese market.
