Benromach- Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

One of many victims of the Scotch whisky industry’s downturn in the 1980s, Benromach spent a decade out of operation before being acquired by Elgin-based independent bottlers and suppliers Gordon & Macphail in 1993.  The first spirit ran from the stills in 1998, one hundred years after the distillery’s original foundation.

Under G&M’s stewardship, the smallest operating distillery in Speyside - producing just 200,000 litres annually and employing two staff - has become an innovative producer of single malts in classic and boundary-pushing styles alike.  Different barley strains, cask types, and peating levels form the basis of a wide and varied selection of bottlings, including the “Organic - the first whisky to be awarded certified organic foodstuff status by the National Soil Association.  Meanwhile, their 10-year-old won gold for “Best Speyside Single Malt - 12 Years and Under” at the World Whisky Awards in 2014.
