Many thanks to all those who participated in our fifth auction. This auction attracted some fantastic last-minute bidding, along with some great prices for buyer and sellers alike. There was a great collection of Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottlings, any of which had yet to be seen at auction, along with some from highly respected Independent bottlers Cadenhead’s.
So firstly, to one of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottlings.
The SMWS 111.2 Lagavulin, distilled in 1980 and bottled in 1995, garnered many bids and finished on a hammer price of £841.
There was also the SMWS 17.25 Scapa 1967, bottled at 37 years old the achieved a final price of £780. Another bottling from the SMWS was the 7.28 Longmorn 1968, bottled in 2005 reached a hammer price of £890.
There were also a few closed distillery bottlings that had a great deal of interest. A bottling of closed Lowland distillery St. Magdalene from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society had some furious bidding right up to the end of the auction, with the bottling eventually being won by a bid of £366. Brora was also one of the bottles in high demand. The SMWS 61.11 bottling reached a hammer price of £511 and was won by a lucky bidder in Switzerland.
With our 5th auction now over, we look forward to the August auction with great anticipation. We already have some wonderful bottles lined up, but there is still time to enter your bottle or bottles!
