With some stand out lots selling for fantastic prices in our inaugural auction, Global Whisky Auctions is now up and running. We had some great collectable bottles in our first auction and these attracted a lot of interest from around the Globe. A bottling from the closed Islay distillery Port Ellen was the 12th Annual Release which sold for £1100 to a very happy collector in Poland. Another whisky coming from the Isle of Islay was the Bowmore Keizo Saji’s Cask bottling which sold for a very healthy £920 to another overseas buyer, this time in Germany.
With our inaugural auction now over, we look ahead to the March auction with great anticipation. Already we have some wonderful bottles lined up, but there is still time to enter your bottle or a collection of bottles into the March auction.
Here is a small preview of some of the bottles that we have lined up for the March auction.
Firstly, we have a couple of bottlings from the now closed Japanese distillery Karuizawa (lots 364 & 365). The Spirit of Asama bottlings were both bottled in 2012 after being matured in European oak sherry casks from whisky distilled in 1999 and 2000, and were some of the final vintages of Karuizawa, however, the two whiskies are bottled at different strengths, with one at 48% and the other at 55%.
Lot 366 comes from the Glenury Royal Distillery and is a Limited-Edition bottling that was released by Diageo in 2011 as part of their annual Special Releases.
A couple of bottles from the Orkney Isles are also represented in our second auction, with two whiskies from Highland Park. The first being the 1978 distillation from the Vintage Collection (lot 388) which was only available to buy from travel retail outlets and the second the limited release 1967 Vintage (lot 411).
