The last Global Whisky Auction of 2017 is now over, and we had some great drinking and collectable bottles which garnered interest from around the Globe. With most of this auction selling, it points to a great increase in the amount of buyers and sellers participating in the auction since our first at the start of 2017.
The auction had a few bottlings from Islay distillery Port Ellen. First up was the 1978 distilled, 24-year-old, 2nd Annual Release from Diageo which sold for £1275 to a collector in China. We also had a bottle of the 3rd Annual release that sold for £1175 and finally, there was the 1978 22-year-old Rare Malts Selection bottling that sold for £819.
The Macallan Diamond Jubilee bottling was released in 2012 for HRH The Queen's 60th Year as monarch since her accession on 6th February 1952, sold for a healthy £2960.
There were also a few bottlings from Highland distillery Dalmore. First up was the 40-year-old presented in a beautiful black faux leather box, that sold for its reserve of £4000. Another 40-year-old Dalmore, this time the Astrum sold for a hammer price of £2600.
